Meet Trevor Wyatt Shenk

Well on Thursday Febuary 19, 2009 we welcomed to our family our newest addition to the Shenk Family.

Trevor Wyatt Shenk
born: Thursday February 19, 2009 at 10:32pm Weight: 7 lbs. 0 Oz.
Length: 19 3/4 inches

It all started when I was going to my last OB visit before my scheduled C-section on February 24. Like normal, I go in, get weighed and have my blood pressure taken. My blood pressure was high...like normal. So I had to sit on my left hand side for what felt like hours. Blood pressure still high. So doc comes in room and says, I'd like for you to go to the hospital to be monitored and have some blood test while you are there. She said, if all is normal, then would be free to go home and would see them back on Tuesday. Well, hour after hour and my blood pressure going everywhere, the contractions started laying on thick! So, at about 8:30 that night, the doc calls the hospital and say that they are going to have the baby tonight!!! I was exstatic!

Well, when they got me back to the operating room, of course...I started freaking out...if they didn't have my numb from the back down, chances are I would have ran from the room. But then Jeremy sat next to me and started petting my head and arm and he calmed me down. So, what felt like hours was just about 1 hour.

Since going back to my hospital room, he and I did nothing but sleep and eat. Well, he pooped too! But have a fun look at a few of our pictures of Trevor's birthday!!

Austin's 12th Birthday

Today Austin turns 12! Because his birthday fell on a Sunday, and Valentines Day fell on the Saturday before, we had to celebrate his birthday on Friday the 13th. The day was awesome! Austin chose to have 3 friends come and spend the night and of course...every year on his birthday we take him out to dinner. He decided that with his friends he wanted to go to Outback Steakhouse. So with Me, Jeremy, Taylor, Austin and 3 friends in tow, along with Aunt Pat and Wendy we took everyone out to dinner... They don't do reservations so we had to do call ahead seating. I called ahead and we got there around 6pm. The hostess, forget about us and we waited an hour and almost a 1/2 to get a table...needless to say, the management was sorry and took care of our desserts and appetizers...Whew...thank goodness!! Everyone had steak and potatoes and everyone was very well satisfied with taking their time and eating great food! They came out and sang Austin his birthday song (which he always loves) and him and all his friends had a brownie and ice cream. He opened all his presents and then we headed home. He and all his friends stayed up late like all tweens are suppose to and then mosied on home in the morning hours... Needless to say, on Valentines day, we spent the day going to Toys R Us and Walmart and buying more toys with all his gift cards and money he received....so it was like Day 2 Austins birthday...which was fine with us! Then today with it being our Daytona 500 party day, Aunt Pat decided to surprise Austin with a Nascar themed birthday cake and dessert! He was excited! Dumb me, with my pregnant brain and all, forgot my camera on the night he and his friends had a slumber party and dinner, but did get pictures of his birthday cake at Aunt Pats!!! Happy Birthday Austin!~

Daytona 500 Race Day

The kids had an eventful day. We planned a Dayton 500 Race day at my aunt's house, we decided that we were going to choose a driver and put $5.00 into a fund for the winner and 2nd place finishers. There was 7 of us total, making the pot $35.00. $25.00 for the closest finisher to first place in our 7 person group and $10.00 for 2nd closer finisher. Our picks were:
Taylor - Kyle Busch
Austin - Jimmie Johnson
Jeremy - Tony Stewart
Becky - Carl Edwards
Aunt Pat - Mark Martin
Wendy - Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Eternity - Kasey Kahne

The race started out awesome...Taylors driver jumped out in first right away!!! He ended up leading the race for 89 laps. Stewart, Edwards, Earnhardt & Martin traded in and out of the top 10. Jimmie Johnson started in a great position and just had issues getting and staying in the top 10, but he was far from out. But then a Jr. just had issue after issue in the pits and then on lap 124 he decided to piss everyone off and was at the start of a huge crash which took, Edwards, Jr. and Johnson and stuck them at the back of the pack....BUMMER :(. Anyways, the race ended up being rained out with only 52 laps to go and Jeremy's driver Stewart ended up the closest to first place and Aunt Pats driver took 2nd... Lets put it this way, Taylor was devistated, Austin didn't care because he had a friend over and the friend was too busy to worry about it :).

I have to tell you how interested the kids were in the race. We even stayed up the night before to do posters for our drivers. To see the heart break right when their racers fell behind or the excitement when their drivers moved up on the pack....
The biggest rival was Wendy and Jeremy's drivers...well atleast at our house. You have to see their signs...they crack me up!!

Our New Blog Spot

Well, a friend got me onto this website, I think this will be so fun and keep everyone in the loop of our family happenings. Soon I will post some baby shower pictures and a blog and of course on February 24 I will be giving birth to our newest little bundle of joy. Hopefully I will be able to do some of the blogging from the hospital. We'll see how I feel though. Talk to you all soon!
